Back sometime ago when Karen, Jeanette and I were kids. Long before video cameras were invented. We went on a family vacation to Canada in the Bamf, Lake Louise area. We noticed a gathering of people along the side of the road using 8mm movie cameras to film a family of brown bears. The family of bears consisted of a mother and her two cubs.

Our family pulled off the road a few miles later to check into a bungalow. About ten minutes after we arrived Jeanette noticed out the window that the bears that were down the road are now in our station wagon feasting on a package of Fig Newtons and a bag of marshmallows . Dad sternly instructed all of us to wait inside as he rushed outdoors to take care of the bears.

The boat rental attendant met him at the car with a couple of rowboat oars. The two of them were able to get the bears out of the car and chase them off. As a child witnessing the event I realized how brave my dad was.
