Memory

Saw your post about your dad and wanted to let you know how sorry I was for you and your siblings and Pat.

Your dad and I had an interesting relationship. We butted heads a lot early on and especially when I was on the diaconate. He was a curmudgeon and I was a radical or so we thought of each other. When your mom passed away, he changed, softened up and I remained an activist rebel. As the years went by, our relationship softened mostly because of him. The edge was gone from our interactions and conversations and I grew to deeply respect and love him. When Nick was killed in deeply affected your dad and whenever I would visit Bellevue, invariably we would see each other at some get-together hosted by a CPC family, like Fickels or Beiges. We'd talk about all sorts of things, life here in Montana, my kids and grandkids, Debbie's parents, the Marine Corps.

Over the last 25+ years, we really enjoyed each other. He was a great encouragement to me when I was leading the CPC worship music and when I was a deacon.

Your loss is bittersweet now, but your reunion will be sweet.

Love and blessings to you and the whole family.
